Spring Clean for your Mind

spring clean your mindIt’s spring cleaning time again. While we commonly think about cleaning our closets, cupboards and homes, it’s also a great time to spring clean our minds – clearing out the clutter and negativity. Give your minds a fresh start for the season! Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Clear Negativity

We have about 60,000 thoughts each day and most of us experience more negative thoughts than positive. You may have a tendency toward negative self-talk and criticism. A thought can be changed, so choose what you think about! Bring your focus away from the negative to the positive. Whatever you focus on becomes your reality.

Write Things Down

Journaling is a great way to clear the clutter in your mind. You can write thoughts down as they come into the mind – a free flow method. Or try a gratitude journal. Write about 3 things each day you’re grateful for. This will keep you scanning for positive all day long.

Unplug from the Negative

Go on a news fast or reduce time you spend with “Debbie Downers” – both of which can bring you down. Be more selective of what you spend your time doing and who you spend your time with.

Ditch a Bad Habit

Identify a bad habit you’d like to drop that could make a positive difference in your life. Maybe it’s quitting smoking, eating junk food or reducing TV time. Whatever it is, take the time and clean out a habit that has been holding you back.

Clear Out Stuff

Clutter impacts your entire life. Take time and clean out your closet, office, cupboards and more. Get rid of things you no longer need. Less clutter around you means less clutter in your mind.

Happy Spring!
