Lisa Ponfit, MD
Dr. Ponfick is passionate about supporting children, adolescents, and families as they navigate complex emotional, behavioral, and developmental challenges. She values collaboration and works closely with patients and caregivers to establish meaningful, positive, and achievable goals.
Her approach blends traditional Child Psychiatry with a holistic perspective, recognizing the close connection between mental health, family relationships, environmental influences, and physical well-being. Dr. Ponfick is committed to personalized care and partners with families, therapists, educators, and medical specialists to create integrated treatment that supports resilience, social engagement, and long-term well-being.
Dr. Ponfick has extensive experience caring for children and adolescents in outpatient, residential, and inpatient settings. She has worked closely with schools, Autism Spectrum Disorder specialists, residential treatment programs, and hospital teams to provide thoughtful, coordinated care that honors each family’s unique strengths and goals. She also brings advanced training and clinical experience in addressing metabolic and weight-related concerns that intersect with psychiatric care, with particular sensitivity to the emotional and psychological impact of metabolic challenges.
She specializes in the care of patients under 18 years of age and is dedicated to serving individuals and families across all sexual, gender, and ethnic identities.
Rooted in Colorado, Dr. Ponfick graduated from the Honors Program at Colorado State University and earned her medical degree from the University of Colorado. She was honored to serve as Chief Resident during both her four-year General Psychiatry Residency and her two-year Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Fellowship.
Outside of clinical work, Dr. Ponfick enjoys spending time with family and friends, taking Peloton classes, exploring Asian cuisine, and rescuing animals.
