Dr. Suzanne Blaising, PhD
Suzanne Blaising, PhD, MSW is a psychotherapist, psychedelic medicine therapist, and educator with over twenty-five years of experience supporting people through periods of pain, transition, and profound change. Her work is grounded in warmth, compassion, and a deep respect for each person’s inner wisdom and capacity for healing.
Dr. Blaising works with individuals and couples who feel stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected—often after years of trying to figure things out without lasting relief. She supports people navigating trauma, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, relationship struggles, attachment wounds, and major life transitions. She is known for creating a therapeutic space that feels safe and honest—one where people can slow down, feel understood, and explore what matters most without pressure or judgment.
Her work in psychedelic medicine spans clinical care, research, training, and education. She has facilitated more than 450 hours of psilocybin administration sessions and over 1,000 ketamine administration sessions. She holds the Professional Certificate in Psilocybin Facilitation and has participated in clinical research involving MDMA, 5-MeO-DMT, and LSD for complex mental health concerns, including trauma, mood disorders, and anxiety. Her work is informed by both rigorous scientific standards and deep, relational clinical practice. As Psychedelic Lead at Wholeness, she provides clinical consultation and supports participants through preparation, dosing, and integration with an emphasis on safety, meaning, and lasting change.
Through years of hands-on clinical work with ketamine and psilocybin, Dr. Blaising developed an original, three-phase sequenced approach to psychedelic therapy. This approach is designed for people who need both stabilization and depth. The process begins with ketamine to help ease emotional intensity, soften rigid or despairing states, and increase psychological flexibility. Psilocybin is then used to support deeper emotional exploration, insight, and meaning making. Following the psilocybin experience, ketamine is reintroduced to help integrate what emerged, reduce overwhelm, and help bring new understanding into everyday life. This sequence was shaped through extensive clinical practice and refined over time in response to patient experience and outcomes.
She is also engaged in teaching and professional dialogue, including teaching for the Academy of Integrative Health & Medicine on the role of spirit in mental health and the intersection of psychedelic medicine and integrative psychiatry. She has co-authored work on psychedelics and holistic models of care and is a member of Delphi, an international working group that is developing minimum standards of practice for clinicians working in psychedelic therapy.
Dr. Blaising’s is certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), divorce mediation, conflict resolution, relationship and premarital education, and stepfamily dynamics. She is licensed in Colorado, Illinois, and California.
Across all her work, she is committed to helping people feel more whole, more connected, and more able to live with clarity and trust—both in themselves and in their relationships. For those drawn to psychedelic-assisted therapy, she offers a thoughtful, carefully held approach that honors both safety and depth.
