The human mind has always fascinated me and the way it is affected by biological, psychological, social and spiritual influences. When my first career of public accounting no longer satisfied my curiosity, I went back to school to quench my desire to know more about how the mind works.
As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner my focus is helping to facilitate mental health in adolescents and adults. I look “upstream” to consider the complex web of interactions in the client’s history, physiology, and lifestyle that can lead to mental illness. I sometimes use laboratory testing and other diagnostic techniques to determine the source of the symptoms you may be having. Then, in concert with you, we choose a program of therapeutic lifestyle changes (nutrition, exercise & mind/body practices), supplements, auricular acupuncture and prescription medications.
I rejuvenate myself by taking long hikes in the Colorado and Wyoming backcountry with my husband Leigh and dog Reef. Hobbies of mine include reading, gardening, stained glass work, and decorating gourds.
